Bush
Alaska refers to
the lifestyle that embodies a more intimate connection with the wilderness than
with civilization. This rural way of life echoes age-old subsistence
hunting-gathering-sharing traditions.
Like other bush villages, Cordova
has long been called home by natives. Chugach-Aleut, Eyak and
Tlingit Natives compromise nearly a quarter of the resident population.
Living 'in the bush' also implies physical remoteness
from the outside world. In fact, air or water transportation
are the only means by which Cordova can be accessed.
