Cordova is a fisherman's destination. Local streams and rivers are rich with kings, sockeye, silvers, chums, and humpies. Bottom-fishing for halibut, lingcod and various types of rockfish is bountiful. There are also opportunities to hunt shark here in Prince William Sound.
The Copper River Wild Salmon Festival is a community-wide party held the first weekend in June. Besides mouthwatering dining opportunities, events include musical jam sessions and a marathon paying homage to Alaska's species of Pacific Salmon.


Over 4,000 sea otters reside in Prince William Sound, that's the highest concentration of these amazing marine mammals on the entire West Coast. It's very likely you'll see some frolicking around in the chilly water. At one million hairs per square inch, their fur is the densest of any animal.

The habitat found on the Copper River Delta grows the world's largest moose.
From trumpeter swans, the world's largest waterfowl, to tiny well-traveled hummingbirds, Cordova is a haven for winged creatures. Due to the geographic location and abundant food sources, more than 20 million birds fly here in the Spring. Observe the migration firsthand by attending the Copper River Delta Shorebird Festival celebrated annually during the first weekend in May.
